Rani hints at possible feud with Love Island production

Rani hints at possible feud with Love Island production
Jun 8 2023 Share

After Love Island Malta contestant Rani left the villa rather abruptly, touting medical reasons following even a sighting of her at the airport, a recent story by the contestant suggested alternative possible reasons.

Taking to Instagram story, Rani shared an article by MaltaDaily and wrote: ‘For those confused, I had a lil two day stay at the Love Island Malta villa. To say the least the production and I did not couple up.’

This sparked rumours as to what could have caused the elimination, but it could also suggest that the issues between Rani and the production team came after she left so early in her stay.

Meanwhile, Jason Micallef took to social media and interviews to critique the programme for putting ‘sex on TVM’, continuing his disdain for the show after having critiqued it after it first aired.

‘The level of ethics and standards from PBS (TVM) disappeared, if they existed at all’ he wrote. ‘The farce of selling and buying sex that is ongoing on our national television station should turn our faces red.’

He argued that the station has given space for ‘porn stars’ to justify themselves, if not celebrate it’, a possible jab at contestants (Rani herself) having an OnlyFans account.

This was met with mixed reactions, with some agreeing with the Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman and others disagreeing.

The programme has managed to draw a lot of viewership to the station, with people arguing that we should not argue in favour of sex work if people are going to get disqualified or shamed for having an OnlyFans account.

New York sky turns orange due to Canadian wildfire

New York sky turns orange due to Canadian wildfire
Jun 8 2023 Share

The skies of New York City are currently shrouded by an orange smog caused by Canada’s wildfires on Wednesday, forcing residents to wear face masks due to air quality alerts.

People went under pollution warnings after smoke from the wildfires drifted southward, limiting outdoor activity and reintroducing the mask – a common feature of the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘America’s financial capital and much of New York state were subject to an air quality health advisory alert that was in effect until Wednesday night. Warnings were also in place in the US capital Washington’, reports AFP.

Public schools were suspended, with officials urging people to train indoors if necessary and avoid outdoor activity.

It is reported that the concentration of tiny particles called PM2.5 was 14 times higher than the World Health Organisation’s guidelines.

Messi rejects €1 billion to join Beckham’s Inter Miami

Messi rejects €1 billion to join Beckham's Inter Miami
Jun 8 2023 Share

Football legend Lionel Messi has decided that his next team after PSG will be David Beckham’s club Inter Miami.

Apparently, the €1 billion on offer by Saudi Arabian teams was not enough to sway the Argentinian from joining this team, having just been offered a unique contract by America’s Major League Soccer.

It was reported that Inter Miami offered Messi $54 million per year for four years, along with complex sponsorship deals with brands such as Apple and Adidas.

It has been reported that MLS and Apple have discussed giving Messi a share of the revenue from the MLS Season Pass TV subscription.

Meanwhile, Adidas has also offered the player a profit-sharing deal that will give the star a cut of any jump in profits from the MLS.

“I made the decision that I am going to go to Miami,” Messi said. “I still haven’t closed it 100%. I’m missing some things, but we decided to continue on the path.”

And looking at those deals, would you blame him? The PSG contract ends by June’s closing, meaning that we could see the player play with the US team by 21st July when they host Mexican side Cruz Azul in their Leagues Cup opener in Fort Lauderdale.
