The Malta Ranger Unit has been approached by several councils requesting Ranger presence to assist community policing teams in ensuring greater safety in localities.
The Rangers patrolled Sliema on August 6th after the Sliema Local Council observed an increase in littering due to the large number of tourists and residents.
Although the primary focus of the Unit remains patrolling rural areas, urban patrolling to monitor environmental laws will now be added to their list of duties.
Yesterday, the Rangers spent two hours patrolling problematic roads in St. Paul’s Bay, accompanied by two officers from the Community Policing Team. The Rangers aim to raise awareness on waste disposal and Regulation 549.40.
