Quarantine period reduced for vaccinated COVID-19 patients

Quarantine period reduced for vaccinated COVID-19 patients
Dec 29 2021 Share

As of Monday 3rd January, persons who test positive for COVID-19 who have received their booster dose must quarantine for 10 days instead of the previous 14 days; so long as they don’t have symptoms on the final three days of their quarantine.

Meanwhile, individuals who make contact with a COVID-positive person and are in possession of a valid vaccine certificate may use the “early release system” meaning that they can conclude their mandatory quarantine seven days after making contact with the positive person and testing negative via rapid test.

Additionally, from Monday, persons who are considered ‘secondary contacts’, who live in the same residence as individuals who are in direct contact with a positive person, do not have to quarantine if they are vaccinated with a booster dose.

Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne remarked that while the vaccinations are progressing very well at the moment, vaccine centres in Malta and Gozo will increase from 7 to 24 in order to improve efficacy.

Here’s why you’ve been seeing headlines of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Barcelona

Dec 29 2021 Share

You may or may not have seen the news of Cristiano Ronaldo being touted to join Barcelona somewhere on the internet, but we’re here to tell you that the news is not true and lay down some cultural facts on why this was a thing.

Spanish football fans across the globe were treated to one last seasonal gift before the end of 2021 after seeing news that Ronaldo was so unhappy with his time at Manchester United, that he actually made contact with Barcelona head coach Xavi to attempt to finalise a deal with the Blaugrana.

However, Barcelona fans should not get too excited because this elaborate ruse was all part of “El Dia de Los Inocentes” (The Day of the Holy Innocents), which is basically the April Fool’s Day of the Spanish-speaking population of the world and while having the potential to be one of the sports stories of the year, it is simply a hilarious cultural tradition.

Did you get fooled or see it coming?

Why did Kanye West buy a house across the street from Kim Kardashian?

Dec 29 2021 Share

By now, you’ve probably already seen the headlines saying that rapper and designer Kanye West purchased a property right across the street from estranged wife Kim Kardashian… but did you know why?

West reportedly purchased the house for $4.5 million, paying over $400,000 the asking price to secure it. Despite Kardashian seeming to want otherwise, Kanye said he planned to get his family back together and if he couldn’t live “in the house” with his family, he would “buy the home right next door.”

A People magazine source stated that the house will be torn down to become a family-friendly location where he would be able “to have the kids over as much as possible” due to West’s Malibu residence making it tricky for visits. Kanye reportedly wants nothing more than to be close to his children and there for them when they need him.

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian’s relationship with Pete Davidson has been getting ‘more serious’ after the 41-year-old personality and 28-year-old comedian linked up earlier this year.

When asked about the prospect of reducing quarantine time as suggested by the Malta Chamber and other organisations, Minister Dalli revealed that discussions are currently underway with the relevant authorities but appealed to the public to receive their booster dose because it is with it that we can protect our health and economy.
