As a Danish TV reporter was reporting on the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, security forces intervened and threatened to break the camera equipment.
The reporters were stopped from filming, despite being in a public place and having the required permits to film. The reporter attempted to show the permits for reporting but still faced resistance by the security.
‘You have invited the whole world here. Why can’t we film? It is a public place,’ he said.

The reporter went on to reiterate the authorities’ threat that they would break the camera if they continued to film. ‘You can break the camera,’ he added. ‘You want to break it? Go ahead. You’re threatening us by breaking the camera.’
In a later tweet, it was revealed that an apology from Qatar International Media Office and from Qatar Supreme Committee was issued. However, questions arose as to whether other reporters will face the same treatment.
