The Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, has inaugurated the new Qala Saints sports facility, an endeavor realized with an investment exceeding €400,000.
Minister Camilleri highlighted the government’s dedication to fulfilling its electoral promises regarding sports, extending this commitment to Gozo. He noted that recent years have seen unprecedented investment in the region, particularly in enhancing sports facilities.
At the facility’s inauguration, Minister Camilleri remarked that this project will provide a safe and beautiful environment for local children to train. Moreover, the Qala Saints team, along with other teams in Gozo, now has a modern and suitable venue to operate from.
“We have continued to invest in our athletes and youth because we believe in their potential, which they have proven whenever given the chance, both in Malta and on the international stage. Currently, around 50 Gozitan athletes benefit from the Gozitan Sportsperson Assistance Scheme, aimed at offsetting some of the training-related costs for those who train in Malta,” stated the Minister.
Minister Camilleri expressed gratitude to the Minister for Education and Sports, Clifton Grima, for the support that made this project possible, and he extended his best wishes to the Qala Saints team for their future success.
Paul Buttigieg, the Mayor of Qala, emphasized that this project was accomplished through government intervention. He noted that the facility will be a significant asset for the Qala Saints team and the local children and adolescents who train with the nursery.
Noel Mizzi, President of Qala Saints, stated that the dream of every football enthusiast in Qala has now become a reality. He thanked all the entities that collaborated to bring this project to fruition.
