Puttinu Cares accommodates cancer patients beyond our shores

Puttinu Cares accommodates cancer patients beyond our shores
Mar 29 2022 Share

In 2022, NGO Puttinu Cares kicked off works to help people, especially children, sick with cancer to find accommodation when going abroad for therapy.

Puttinu welcomed the challenge and bought 20 apartments in Sutton near the Royal Mardsen Hospital. With the youngest cancer patient travelling to stay there being 3 days old, Puttinu continued to extend services to adults and youth.

As of right now, around 60 to 90 patients travel to England for specialised cure every month. The majority of the patients go to the London centre and thus the need was felt to buy a building to introduce 20 new apartments as was done in Sutton.

This will give free accommodation to patients travelling to London. Properties cost around €3 million in Sutton and €30 million in London. After intensive research throughout these last 6 years, a property 10 minutes away by walk from Russel Square and hospitals was found.

The goal of these apartments is to help patients and their families focus on the treatment as Puttinu takes on part of the burden and offer peace of mind through free accommodation.

On Good Friday, a fundraising marathon will be held between 10am to 3pm and from 9pm to 12am on all TV stations to help Puttinu with their goals of providing more help to patients.

Throughout the general election campaign, Zaren tal-Ajkla pledged €4,000 to each woman who wished to get breast implants, as well as €300 to men to grow any body part they want.

Now, after the Labour Party was elected into government, Zaren seems keen to keep his promise despite not being elected.

He went on to tell newsroom Talk.mt that the government should allocate a budget of at least €200 million this upcoming October so that anyone who has any physical defects can feel better.

This came after Zaren was photographed and videoed partying with Labour supporters on a vehicle. He had joined in on the fun and explained that he wanted to join the people if they felt like they won through the election.

He revealed that he would have done the same thing if the Nationalist Party won. He even said that the PN need him to boost up their votes when asked what was, according to him, wrong with the PN.

Entry into Russia has been limited for Maltese and other ‘unfriendly’ states

Entry into Russia has been limited for Maltese and other ‘unfriendly’ states
Mar 29 2022 Share

A statement on Monday revealed that Russia is preparing to restrict entry into the country for nationals of countries deemed ‘unfriendly’, one of which being Malta.

Along with all EU states and the Unite States, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that a draft presidential decree is being developed on ‘retaliatory visa measures in response to the unfriendly actions of a number of foreign states.’

This comes as the West introduced several sanctions on Moscow after Vladimir Putin sent troops to neighbouring country Ukraine.

The list of unfriendly countries includes Australia, Canada, Britain, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea along with Malta and the aforementioned EU and United States.

Russian carriers have also been banned from the airspace of the European Union, as sanctions from both sides continue to pop up. Russia banned Facebook and Instagram, calling them extremist and even kicked off works to develop an Instagram-mock platform.

On the other end, several companies, ranging from Netflix to Coca Cola, Disney and many others, halted businesses in Russia.

A few days ago, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he would be willing to no longer seek NATO membership for his country in exchange for Russian ceasefire. It is unclear when, or if, Putin intends to draw back his military as Kyiv and other cities endure shelling and bombing.

‘My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.’

Apologising to Chris, Will said that he was out of line and that he feels embarrassed as his actions were not indicative of the man he wants to be. ‘There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.’

Smith also apologised to the Williams and King Richard Family, saying that he regrets his behaviour staining what has been an otherwise ‘gorgeous journey for all of [them]. I am a work in progress.’
