Project Green has collected over 30 tonnes of bulky waste from four different sites slated for transformation into public spaces.

Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Regeneration, Miriam Dalli, met with Project Green workers overseeing the cleaning of sites in Lija, Luqa, Ta’ Ġiorni (St Julian’s), and Kirkop. These areas, previously marked for development, will now be regenerated into 8,000 square meters of green space.

Minister Dalli commended the workers for their swift efforts and expressed gratitude for their contributions. The Chief Operations Officer, Perit Beverley Costa, outlined the agency’s proposal process for these sites, which will be submitted to the Planning Authority and local councils for approval.

Minister Dalli emphasized the importance of creating green spaces accessible to approximately 7,000 families, deviating from the original plan of developing apartment blocks.

Costa reiterated the significance of local council involvement and community input in Project Green’s initiatives. The agency aims to enhance the quality of life for residents by transforming these sites into public spaces tailored to community needs and aspirations.

Minister Dalli anticipates the completion of these projects, underscoring Project Green’s commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
