Recent developments in Ħal Far, Malta, signal significant progress in the preparatory work for the National Motorsport Center. The ongoing cleaning efforts, particularly focused on the future motorsport track circuit area, have seen substantial success.
Spearheaded by the Cleaning and Maintenance Division since November, nearly 24,875 tons of construction waste have been removed, clearing the site for upcoming phases. Minister Clifton Grima reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the project, noting the consolidation of land under SportMalta for handover to the Malta Motorsport Federation. This collaborative effort aims to enhance existing Drag Racing and Karting facilities while introducing a new circuit, all within designated development areas.
Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield emphasised the project’s government-backed promise and highlighted the expanded role of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division. The first phase, focusing on Drag Racing track enhancements to secure FIA certification, sets the stage for international events. Duncan Micallef, President of the Malta Motorsport Federation, expressed gratitude for government support, marking the recent cleaning efforts as a significant step forward.
As work progresses, stakeholders anticipate the National Motorsport Centre’s role in elevating Malta’s motorsport scene, providing a top-tier venue for enthusiasts and professionals alike.
