Prof. Charmaine Gauci forewarns increase in cases if measures are ignored

Following this morning’s record-high announcement of 218 overnight cases, Superintendent for Public Health warns of a rise in the rate of infection if the public continues to ignore measures and restrictions.

In reference to the recently-circulating social media posts of large crowd gatherings, Professor Gauci stated that while many people have adapted and are following measures, many others are not.

Malta currently stands at 1,937 active cases with a total of 66 deaths.

218 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 111 recoveries

Malta has registered 218 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,557 swab tests, while 111 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

From yesterday’s cases; 11 cases were family members of previously known cases, 12 cases were contact of positive work colleagues, 8 cases were direct contacts with other positive cases, 2 cases were imported and 5 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 6,400 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 4,397 have recovered, 66 died and 1,937 are still active.

Urgent call for O positive blood

O Positive Blood is needed urgently as stocks are critically low. 

Saħħa and the National Blood Transfusion Service appeal to anyone with O Positive Blood to donate at the Gwardamangia blood donation centre which is open daily from 8am until 6pm including Sundays and Public Holidays.
