The royal, aged 42, had been a figure of resilience and grace under pressure, and her recent announcement has only further solidified this image. Earlier this year, Kensington Palace disclosed that Princess Kate had undergone “planned abdominal surgery” on January 17th. At the time, the procedure was understood to be for a non-cancerous condition. However, it was later revealed through post-operative tests that cancer cells had been present.
In her video statement, Princess Kate took the opportunity to extend her thanks to those who have sent messages of support, acknowledging the impact this situation has had on her family. She also shared that she and her husband, Prince William, have been focusing on managing this difficult situation as privately as possible, while ensuring that their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, are fully informed and assured that their mother is going to be okay.
Media personalities, government officials and tens of thousands of followers of the royal family have since taken to social media to send their well-wishes to Princess Kate and her family as this tragic story continues to unfold.
