Princess Diana’s black Ford Escort RS Turbo has just been sold off at an auction for a whopping £650,000. The car was driven by the royalty from August 1985 to May 1988 and has just been sold to a UK buyer on Saturday.

Diana was pictured with the vehicle outside the boutique shops of Chelsea as well as the restaurants of Kensington.

She had preferred to drive her own car and even had a member of the Royalty Protection Command in the protection seat. The car itself is believed to be unique as the first and only black RS Turbo Series 1, as agreed by S014 and the Ford PR department for reasons of discretion.

With just 24,961 miles on the clock, the vehicle came with a secondary rear view mirror for the protection officer with a radio in the glove box and the cable still visible.

Another Ford Escort used by Diana was sold at an auction for £52,000 back in June 2021.

Classic car specialist Arwel Richards, who held the sale, said that there was fierce bidding and a packed room, followed by an incredible result. With the buyer’s premium included, the winner pay a total of £730,000.

Only yes means yes: Spain passes new sexual consent law

Only yes means yes: Spain passes new sexual consent law
Aug 28 2022 Share

Spain has officially passed a new sexual consent law which states that consent cannot be assumed by default or through silence.

Being dubbed the ‘only yes means yes’ law, Spanish congress passed the legislation in the wake of the 2016 Sabadell case which saw an 18-year-old woman raped by a group of five men.

The ‘only yes means yes’ law has removed any distinction between sexual abuse and rape, stating that: “Consent can only be considered consent when it has been freely manifested through actions that, in accordance with the circumstances, clearly express the person’s wishes.”

Under this new legislation, consent must be explicit and not assumed. The legislation was passed with a 205 majority, with 141 MPs voting against and three abstaining.

Video footage of the horrific Sabadell case, also called the wolf pack case, was presented as evidence to prove consent, despite the woman appearing unconscious. During the trial, one judge claimed the men should only be charged for stealing the victim’s phone and not the assault.

The assailants were eventually charged with the lesser crime of sexual abuse and sentenced to nine years in jail. However, mass protests prompted the charge to be changed to rape and increased it to a 15-year jail term.

A significant 61% of the supercar brand’s sales came from its SUV, the Lamborghini Urus, which seemingly resonated with a much wider demographic when compared to its counterparts.

“With the prices of energy skyrocketing, especially in Europe, we have not seen any slowdown yet,” Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated.
