Boris Johnson says social distancing rules could be removed next month

Boris Johnson says social distancing rules could be removed next month

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that there is a good chance social distancing rules could be dispensing with social distance measures. Speaking to reporters, that removing the one-metre plus rule could very well be a possibility. Masks and screens could still however remain to mitigate risks, with big venues operating at reduced capacity. Pubs are however expected to operate at full capacity.

The news comes after 22 of the UK’s leading scientists suggested to authorities that COVID-19 measures such as social distancing should be done away with in June. Johnson went on to talk about foreign holidays, saying that he expects some openings on May 17. He went on to state that he doesn’t want to see an influx of disease, which is why the easing of measures is still being done cautiously.

First ever see-through Sky Pool in London is suspended 115 feet above the ground

First ever see-through Sky Pool in London is suspended 115 feet above the ground

An 82-foot (25 meter) transparent swimming pool has just been installed in southwest London’s nine Elms neighbourhood. The clear box is suspended 115 feet above the streets of London, between the 10th stories of two residential skyscrapers. Open only to the apartment complex’s lucky residents, it is the largest freestanding acrylic pool structure on the globe. It is located next to the US embassy and close to the south bank of Thames, with a view consisting of London’s skyline with London Eye and Westminster.

The pool is 10 feet deep and the water weighs an alleged 375 tonnes. The pool was put intense strength testing before making its actual public debut, lifted up by a 750 tonne mobile crane supported in turn by another 50 tonne crane. Would you bathe in this pool?

Colosseum getting new floor with gladiator’s view

The Italian government has approved plans to have Rome’s Colosseum furnished with a brand new floor, giving visitors the opportunity to stand where the gladiators once stood and fought. The retractable, wooden floor was approved for building on Sunday by Culture Minister Dario Franceschini and is expected to finish by 2023. The monument currently has no floor as archaeologists removed it in the 19th century to expose the underground tunnels which housed gladiators and animals.

Franceschini stated that the refurbishment will give a new perspective to the 2000 year old monument. Cultural events could also be held in the Colosseum once the project restores it to its former glory. The largest amphitheatre in the Roman Empire could house crowds of up to 50,000 people in its glory, yet bloody, days.
