Reinforcement work in Mellieħa is underway as Enemalta upgrades its distribution system with 4 kilometres of new underground cables.

These additions aim to enhance connectivity, increasing the electrical grid’s resilience and flexibility in the locality.

This project forms part of Enemalta’s larger initiative to install 60 kilometres of underground cables across 21 localities in Malta and Gozo. The work, carried out in collaboration with Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta, is a key step toward strengthening the national energy network.

“The Mellieħa project is part of our strategic efforts to modernise the distribution system. This investment ensures stronger resilience and greater sustainability in our energy infrastructure,” said Energy Minister Miriam Dalli.

Enemalta Executive Chairman Ryan Fava highlighted ongoing progress, noting that in the past year alone, over 82 kilometres of underground cables were laid.

Additionally, 54 new substations were commissioned, and 76 others were upgraded. These efforts included replacing 166 feeders and 47 kilometres of overhead lines, marking significant strides in modernising the network.

Enemalta’s comprehensive approach underscores its commitment to improving energy infrastructure, ensuring reliable service and sustainability for Malta’s growing energy needs.

Theo Myles has released Lil Din l-Art Helwa, a powerful reinterpretation of Malta’s national anthem that critiques the country’s struggles with corruption, exploitation, and societal decay.

The song flips the anthem’s celebratory tone into a raw and unflinching commentary on Malta’s current realities.

The single features DJ Mac’s sharp scratching and Simon Deguara’s input from Kill The Action, and mixed and mastered at Valhalla Music Studio.

Featuring stark imagery of abduction and powerlessness, the visuals aim to capture the frustration and despair felt by Myles about what he feels is Malta’s current state.
