Prime Minister Promises To Finish RaceTrack Project

Addressing a speech in parliament following the Nationalist Party’s response to the presentation of Budget 2024, Prime Minister Robert Abela promised the motorsport practitioners that the track project has started, will continue and will be finished. 

During the Budget 2024 presentation, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana hinted at the project’s continuation and conclusion. The project has long featured in Budget speeches as enthusiasts called for a space to practice their sport and craft.

Last year, work on a National Centre for Motorsport in Ħal Far kicked off with an investment of around €20 million, with Sport and Education Minister Clifton Grima stating that this investment will see Malta having an official motorsport centre of international caliber.

Matthew Perry had plans to approach Zac Efron to portray him in a biopic about his life, according to a friend of the late actor. 

Athenna Crosby, who spoke to Perry the day before his passing, revealed his enthusiasm for the project, which would have focused on his journey through addiction recovery. Perry expressed a desire for Efron to depict a younger version of himself and intended to discuss it with him soon.

Crosby emphasised Perry’s eagerness to share his story of addiction recovery to inspire and help others. She described him as optimistic and excited about his future endeavours. 

Despite Perry’s interest, representatives for Zac Efron have not yet commented on the matter.

In the past, Efron played a younger version of Perry in the 2009 film “17 Again.” Perry, while promoting his memoir, revealed that he had initially written a lead role for himself, only to realise he was too old for it. He had hoped for Efron to take the part but was turned down.

Matthew Perry tragically passed away on October 28, with the exact cause of death remaining unclear due to inconclusive autopsy results. Known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on “Friends,” fans have been sharing cherished moments and episodes in his memory.

Pawlu Curmi, better known locally as il-Pampalun, considered the father of Maltese carnival, has sadly passed away on his 92nd birthday.

The carnival legend’s death came as a shock to many, with people flocking to social media to recount their wholesome memories with the jubilant figure. 

European President Roberta Metsola too shared a photo of herself with Pawlu, pointing out how he made thousands of children, men and women, Maltese and tourist, happy. 

‘The king of carnival. Always with a smile, always jubilant. Always on the front, on the carnival floats, dancing and singing’. 

Rest in Peace Pawlu. Carnival will never be the same without you.

'Shoving 25 Residents Into An Apartment Is Undignified', Robert Abela

Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed concerns about worker exploitation and overcrowded living conditions in Malta, countering the Opposition’s portrayal of the country’s reliance on foreign labor. 

The prime minister that it is not right for apartment owners to bring in large groups of residents into an apartment the day after the police addressed the situation.

Abela declared an end to the tolerance of those who exploit workers for personal gain, particularly criticizing temping agencies that bring in foreigners every six months and shoving them into small apartments.

Next week, a draft of laws to regulate these agencies will be presented in the cabinet meeting, granting Maltese authorities full control. Abela emphasized the importance of upholding socialist values, ensuring dignified treatment for all workers regardless of their background.

He also outlined a distinction between fees for renewing work permits and obtaining new ones, aiming to discourage high turnover practices and encourage companies to invest in employee training. Abela firmly stated that it is time to address the issue of profiting from overcrowded shared accommodations.
