In a photograph uploaded to Facebook by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg, we got a glimpse at the prime minister enjoying a pastizz at iconic Serkin during the election campaign.

Robert Abela sat alongside Borg, and from the looks of it, they were enjoying every second of the interaction.

The politicians were enjoying a glass of coffee, an iconic way to serve up the hot beverage in local eateries and bars, and traditional freshly baked Maltese pastizzi.

Borg, who has just returned from a medical check up in London due to a knee condition, revealed that he along with Abela and his wife Lydia were catching a break in Rabat as they continued the electoral campaign.

This is the last weekend before the 26th of March general election, and all politicians are gearing up for the long awaited day.

La Louviere mayor Jacques Gobert told Belga news agency that a car driving at high speed ran into the crowd that gathered to attend the carnival at around 5am (0400 GMT).

The carnival was set to kick off celebrations in Strepy-Bracquegnies, a district of the former industrial town of La Louviere. The vehicle collided with around 100 people who left the sports hall to go back to the centre of the village.

The public’s prosecutor’s office did not wish to communicate on the case for the time being, but more information is expected later in the day.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has taken pole position for the first race of the Formula 1 2022 following an outstanding qualifier in the Bahrain GP.

Leclerc managed to one-up Red Bull world-champion Max Verstappen, making the qualifying Sakhir event a fierce competition between the two.

At the end, it was Leclerc who came out on top on his final lap of Q3, as he overhauled team-mate Carlos Sainz with a 1:30.558 edge ahead.

As for Verstappen, he also improved on his last lap, despite finished a tenth down on Leclerc in second place. The latter said that the last two years for the team were very difficult. ‘But I knew it was just a matter of time before we got back to the top’ he expressed.

Meanwhile, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton struggled to compete with rivals Red Bull and a rejuvenated Ferrari. Perez placed fourth for Red Bull while Hamilton lead Mercedes in fifth and around 0.680s off pole.

Mercedes partner George Russell dropped down to 9th place in his first qualifying alongside Hamilton after two Q3 laps in a new car which struggled through testing and the Bahrain weekend.

It all comes down to tonight as drivers take back to the tracks, with the race broadcasted at 4pm local time. With Hamilton hoping to secure a better spot, the clash seems to be centred around Red Bull versus Ferrari.
