Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed and played down criticism by predecessor Joseph Muscat that some of his confidantes are too easily impressed by Facebook posts.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday evening, Abela was asked by Lovin Malta, who also held the interview with Muscat. ‘Everyone who works with me and who I consult safeguards the general interests of society and listen to everyone’ said Abela.
During a Lovin Malta interview, Muscat had said that he thinks there are some people, very few people, who don’t appreciate the level of commitment and energy and the amount of work it took to bring so many people together.’
Muscat described them as well-intentioned and not aiming to break up the movement. ‘However, they think that it’s only natural that PL is in government and they don’t rumba, or probably weren’t even there, when we spent all those years in the wilderness of Opposition.’
Muscat did not reveal who these individuals are, refusing to confirm or deny whether any of them work at Castille. He did suggest that these people may have had a hand in government U-turns when it came to handling the COVID-19 pandemic through measures.
