Pregnancy discouraged after first two months of taking vaccine

In today’s health conference, Superintendent for Public Health, Prof. Charmaine Gauci stated that vaccine will not be offered to pregnant women and children under the age of 16 due to the fact that clinical trials have not progressed enough to confirm health and safety.

The Superintendent for Public Health also stated that pregnancy is discouraged after the first two months of taking the vaccines.

Prof. Gauci has also stated that side effects, if any, include minor fever or headaches for a short period as well as redness around the area of the vaccine jab for a short time but confirmed that it is nothing to worry about.

COVID-19 vaccines in Malta will start on Sunday 27th December

In an urgent press conference called earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne announced that COVID-19 vaccines will start being administered on Sunday 27 December.

10,000 Pfizer vaccines are expected to arrive in Malta on Saturday, with thousands of vaccines to arrive in Malta every Monday until a total of 500,000 vaccines are reached.

Dr. Fearne has stated that Malta will be “one of the first countries in the world” to be administering this vaccine.

Chris Fearne to address urgent health conference at 3PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister, Dr. Chris Fearne, will address an urgent press conference at 3pm from the Ministry for Health in Valletta.

This follows the announcement the travellers arriving in Malta from the UK will have to quarantine for 14 days due to the revelation of the COVID-19 variant.

Next two health conferences will be held on Wednesdays

For the next two weeks, the Superintendent for Public Health, Prof. Charmaine Gauci will be addressing Health Conferences on Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

This is due to the fact that the following two Fridays will fall on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

The conferences will still be held at 12.30pm on TVM, tvm.com.mt and live streamed on the saħħa page.
