Education Minister Justyne Caruana and Economy Minister Silvio Schembri announced that some 3100 students in state, independent and church schools, Junior College and MCAST will be receiving vouchers for €300 worth of free internet. The scheme will apply to students who apply immediately for a continuation of their studies after finishing Form 5/Year 11 and are eligible for student stipend.
The government will be spending €1 million, with the plans for said scheme announced during the budget. This, according to Minister Caruana, will encourage more students to study beyond Year 11. Vouchers will start to be distributed by Wednesday 19th May and can be redeemed from Thursday 20th May until end of June 2021.
