Possible rain showers to close off the week

Possible rain showers to close off the week
Sep 27 2021 Share

Malta is entering its autumn and winter seasons as the likelihood of isolated rain showers increases. Both ‘The Weather Page Malta’ and the 7-day weather forecast by Malta International Airport point to this being the case, despite the prediction not being fully confirmed.

However, as weather instability churns differing weather patterns across the central Mediterranean, the chances of both rain, and even thunderstorms, are higher. Friday and Saturday are being heralded as these damper days, with Sunday forecasted to be partly cloudy.

Temperatures are set to feel as hot as 30 degrees Celsius tomorrow Tuesday 28th September to a low 26 on Friday and Saturday. We might be in for a bit of a fashion related confusion – T-shirts or cardigans? – for a while.

Construction vehicles denied access to Gharb for whole week

Construction vehicles denied access to Gharb for whole week
Sep 27 2021 Share

The local council of Gharb prohibited the entrance of construction vehicles between the 16th and 22nd of September, along with the release of permissions. This formed part of the global initiative Mobility Week which is celebrated in many countries. Mayor David Apap stated that this was the first initiative of its kind in Malta and Gozo, leading to discussions as to whether or not this was a positive occurrence and whether it should occur once more.

Apap pointed out how the locality was far quieter, more accessible and had less noise and air pollution over these 7 days. The mayor said that the council worked hard to overcome the challenges and give the residents new breath from industrially caused issues. The initiative was met with criticism by contractors and locals undergoing work who had to postpone. Despite these arguments against, the local council found the initiative to be more positive, placing the residents above the industrialisation.

Robert Abela announces €20 million motorsport race track

Sep 27 2021 Share

After years of calls and anticipation, Malta’s motorsport community will be relieved to hear that the island will finally get its own professional race track in Ħal Far.

This was announced by Prime Minister Robert Abela in a Cabinet meeting held in Ta’ Qali, where he stated that the project has been a priority from the moment he became Prime Minister, where he directed Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima to give priority to the project.

The project is set to be unveiled over the next few days, with the €20 million race track poised to meet international standards after years of motorsport enthusiasts and the Malta Motorsport Federation itself calling for the long overdue project to set its course in Malta. The Prime Minister stated that the Motorsport community has waited long enough, with his most recent Facebook post highlighting that while wanting a professional set-up, the track must not be an inconvenience to the residents, which is why it was ensured that no ODZ land was to be used.

What do you make of this? Do you welcome the much-anticipated arrival of the race track?

This is the first time that Ylenia has played for an English team, but not the first foreign team. After a very successful spell with local club Hibernians where she scored 328 goals in 237 appearances and a fruitful season at Birkirkara she moved on to Italian side Chievo Verona. After Chievo she joined Belgian team RC Charleroi-Belgium.
