Local artists Stache Studios have partnered with clothing brand Parascandolo to create a collection of unique t-shirts that celebrate Maltese heritage and culture. The designs feature iconic Maltese phrases and imagery, including references to traditional foods like bajtar tax-xewk (prickly pear).
In an exclusive interview with Malta Daily, Mark from Stache Studios expressed his admiration for Parascandolo, describing them as one of the first Maltese companies to successfully create accessible fashion, particularly clothing that resonates with Maltese themes and language.
Mark shared that his own artwork is also rooted in Maltese culture and iconic phrases, making this collaboration a natural fit.
He revealed that after completing some new designs, he reached an agreement with Parascandolo to release the artwork as a line of t-shirts under their brand.
He praised Parascandolo for offering local artists and illustrators a valuable opportunity to showcase their work in a commercial format.
By handling the retail side of things, Parascandolo allows artists like Mark to focus entirely on the creative process, while still having their art accessible to the public through fashion.
Mark’s goal for the t-shirt designs was to create something that would resonate with everyday Maltese people. He noted that many young people today are drawn to clothing with large brand names and logos, often lacking creativity or personal connection.
While acknowledging that Stache’s budget can’t compete with major brands, Mark said his aim was to provide something cool, relatable, and accessible for Maltese youth and the general public alike.
