
Newly elected Pope Leo XIV began his first homily with words in English during Mass in the Sistine Chapel with the College of Cardinals.
In a clip shared by Vatican News, Pope Leo XIV said that he will continue the rest of the mass in Italian, but wanted to repeat the Responsorial Psalm in English.
‘I will sing a new song to the Lord because he has done Marvels’ he said, inviting the cardinals to witness these marvels.

He said he can rely on everyone in the College of Cardinals to help him deliver the good news as he begins his new life as Pope.
Born Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo XIV is the first ever Pope from the United States of America.
He was born in Chicago and became a friar in the Order of Saint Augustine as a young man, being ordained priest in 1982. He is known to have carried out extensive missionary work in Peru.
