Political Leaders Congratulate Malta Women’s Team For Promotion

Malta’s political leaders took to social media to congratulate the Malta Women’s National Team for their historic promotion to EUFA Nations League League B after a stellar goal by Haley Bugeja secured the deal on home turf.

President Myriam Spiteri Debono and Prime Minister Robert Abela, who were both in attendance, snapped photos with the team and issued messages of congratulations.

‘Pride, passion, and perseverance’, wrote the Prime Minister. ‘Congratulations to our Women’s National Football team on their success in the UEFA Women’s Nation’s League. Keep making us proud.’

On her part, the President also congratulated the team and all the officials of the local football administration ‘whose work also led to this achievement.’

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech issued a post of his own, also congratulating Haley Bugeja directly for her decisive goal. ‘We are all proud of you’, wrote Grech.

Structure Fire In Sliema Controlled By CPD Malta

A fire which broke out on the 7th floor of an apartment block in Sliema was controlled by Civil Protection Malta last night.

Footage sent to Malta Daily shows the flames which engulfed the 7th floor of the building as CPD convened below to address the situation.

Firefighters from Fire Stations 2, 4, and 11 responded to the scene, with a total of four fire engines and a turntable ladder deployed to address the situation.

‘The fire was successfully extinguished with no injuries reported’, Civil Protection Malta explained. Residents of the building were evacuated as a safety precaution during the operation.

Malta Women’s Team Promoted To League B

Malta’s women’s national team made history on Friday evening, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cyprus at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali to clinch promotion to League B in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.

The decisive moment came from star forward Haley Bugeja, whose first-half strike sealed Malta’s promotion.

Malta sealed 12 points in the League C Group 2 following their latest encounter, a five point lead over their last field opponents Cyprus. Georgia follows with 6 points and Andorra with 4.
