Police discover 28 people living illegally in Malta; individuals to be deported

As part of the police’s continued clampdown on individuals living illegally in Malta, a total of 28 individuals were found and taken to the Detention Centre to begin the repatriation process.

The inspections were conducted in Hamrun, Marsa and Santa Venera, with members of The Malta Police Force being assisted by officers from the Detention Services and Occupational Health.

The individuals, hailing from Senegal, Eritrea, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria, were taken to a Detention Centre where their repatriation process has started.

Investigations are currently under way.

Maltese personalities embark on journey to Ghana to conduct missionary work

A group of Maltese personalities, singers and content creators have just started their journey to the West African country of Ghana, where they will be conducting missionary work.

Daniel Umanah, Victor Abela, Kevin Paul Calleja, Megan Caruana, Keane Cutajar and our very own Amy Borg will be working with the Ghana Mission Foundation and HopeXchange to attempt to provide hope to many who are living in extreme poverty.

Ahead of their long journey, Kevin Paul expressed his excitement towards the journey, stating “I just have no idea what to expect but looking forward to experience this mission with an open heart & mind”.

The foundation works tirelessly towards providing hope, funds and resources to the West African country, with a Maltese hospital in the city of Kumasi being one of the main drivers of contribution.

Car catches fire on impact in Mosta road incident

A 63-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his car caught fire following a collision in Triq Burmarrad, Mosta.

The collision took place on Sunday at around 7AM, with the two cars involved being a Honda Accord driven by a 28-year-old Nigerian man living in St. Paul’s Bay and a Toyota Vitz, driven by the 63-year-old-man.

The Vitz caught fire upon impact, with Civil Protection Department Officials and a medical team convening on site to provide assistance. He was taken to Mater Dei hospital soon after, with his injuries certified to be serious.

Police investigations are currently under way.

⚠️ UPDATED: The police have confirmed that the boy sustained serious injuries after falling from a height of around 3 storeys.

An 8-year-old boy has sustained injuries after falling from a balcony in Triq il-Villeġjatura, St. Paul’s Bay.
