Daunte Wright, 26, was shot and killed by a police officer in the US city of Brooklyn Centre in Minnesota. Police Chief Tim Gannon however has issued a statement saying that the police officer was instead trying to use her taser when she mistakenly drew her gun. Wright’s death has sparked several protests, leading to a curfew being declared. Crowds however ignored the curfew and gathered for a second night outside the police headquarters.
Daunte was pulled over on Sunday for traffic violation and a struggle ensued after he tried to get back into the car. Wright is seen getting into his car and drive away but crashed due to being fatally wounded. The officer has been placed on administrative leave with Brooklyn Centre Mayor Mike Elliott stating that he would make sure justice is done for Daunte Wright.
