A spokesperson for the Malta Police Force has stated that authorities can in fact enter residences and inspect whether the COVID-19 measures are being adhered to. One of the new measures issued for COVID-19 mitigation states that no more than two households can be in one residence at a time and the enforcement of this measure allows for police to enter houses if investigation is required.

The spokesperson stated that the Health Superintendent gave the permission to the authorities on behalf of public safety law. Superintendent Charmaine Gauci pointed out last Friday that 68 fines were given the week before after residences were found to have had guests from multiple households.
