Former Nationalist Party secretary general Clyde Puli has stated that while the PN’s strategy to sideline members of the old guard may have worked to elect new faces but failed to win new votes.
In a recent Facebook post, Puli highlighted that while the PN gained a number of new MPs, it did not gain votes, shining a light on the PN’s 12,000 lost votes from 2017.
The seasoned politician argued that such a strategy impacted every district except the 2nd and 3rd, where Stephen Spiteri contested, with the first-elected PN candidate being a new face.
Puli did not contest the 2022 general election and together with Kristy Debono, Mario Galea and Claudio Grech, withdrew his candidature on the first day of the electoral campaign.
