The Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) has accused Prime Minister Robert Abela of abandoning the fight against drugs, leaving 200kg of stolen drugs circulating on the streets.
PN leader Bernard Grech criticised Abela for his indifference to families affected by drug addiction, including parents who have lost children to substance abuse.
The PN claims Abela is more concerned with protecting his inner circle than addressing national issues.
They also condemned Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri, arguing that his resignation should be accepted due to multiple failures under his leadership.
The PN insists that if Abela does not accept Camilleri’s resignation, he is personally assuming responsibility for these failures.
Grech also criticised Abela for hypocrisy, noting that despite attending Dun Victor Grech’s funeral—a priest known for his work with drug victims—Abela refuses to act decisively on the issue.
The PN pledged to remain the people’s “only shield” in the fight against drugs and national security, accusing Abela of prioritising his own interests over the country’s well-being.
