Despite the demanding schedule of campaign events and political responsibilities, Grech’s special day has not gone unnoticed by his party colleagues and supporters.

Among the numerous birthday messages, a particularly heartfelt one came from his wife, AnneMarie Grech. She took to social media to express her affection and gratitude, stating, “Despite it being a busy day, it is still special as always – another reason to live it together – I love you.”

Grech also took to Instagram to thank the party representatives, who gave him a surprise on his birthday at the PN headquarters.

Today, Malta is holding elections for its representatives in the European Parliament and for the officials of its 68 local councils.

This vote will determine six Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and local council teams for the next five years. There are 370,184 eligible voters for the European Parliament election, a slight decrease from 2019. For the local council elections, 457,343 people are registered, up by 23,000 compared to the previous election.

Polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the results for the MEP elections are expected tomorrow morning. The European Parliament’s total number of MEPs will increase from 705 to 720 after this election due to additional seats allocated to twelve countries following the UK’s exit from the EU.

Thirty-nine local candidates are contesting the European Parliament seats, including nine from the Labour Party, eight from the Nationalist Party, and a record number of 13 independent candidates, along with representatives from smaller parties. Among the candidates are three current MEPs: Roberta Metsola, David Casa (both PN), and Alex Agius Saliba (PL), as well as former MEP Claudette Abela Baldacchino (PL). Amongst others David Casa is also on the ticket, noted for being Malta’s longest-serving MEP.

San Ġiljan Beats Sliema To Win The Sport Malta Cup

San Ġiljan ASC have beaten historic rivals Sliema in the final of the Sport Malta 2024 Cup.

The game was very close between the two teams with San Ġiljan just edging the win with a 9-7 score.

The final took place in the iconic National Pool Complex in Tal-Qroqq, as it’s preparing to host the  Final 4 European Aquatics Champions League Men.

To reach the final, Sliema had to beat Sirens ASC with a convincing score of 14-3, whilst San Ġiljan had a tougher test beating cross-town rivals Neptunes with a score of 13-9.

It has been a very successful season for San Ġiljan who have just also on the Winter League. They will now be hoping for further success in the Summer League.
