Bernard Grech has called on the Maltese people to protest today, Monday, in front of Parliament to ‘send a strong message to Prime Minister Robert Abela.’
Grech stated that the public is outraged not only by the revelation that a Minister’s wife was paid €70,000 annually but also because the same rules applied to ordinary citizens are not enforced on government insiders.
He said that these individuals must be held accountable for their actions, and the government must not allow them to act with impunity.
Grech criticized Prime Minister Abela for his inaction, accusing him of being too weak to take the necessary steps.
He said that Abela’s failure to address public outrage, particularly after the tragic death of Jean Paul Sofia, shows that the Prime Minister has not learned from past mistakes. Grech stated that Abela continues to ignore the people’s anger and will persist in his stubbornness.
The protest coincides with a Parliamentary session where Minister Clayton Bartolo will present the Tourism Ministry’s Budget Estimates. Grech vowed that, under a Nationalist Government, the sacrifices made by students to further their education would be respected.
He emphasised how the Nationalist Party believes in meritocracy, and no one should hold a position unless they are truly competent.
Reflecting on the recent PN General Council, Grech outlined the party’s vision for a vibrant and energetic Malta, where young people can pursue their dreams and build a brighter future. He praised the contributions of young speakers and others who are drawn to the party’s mission of promoting the common good.
