Speaking to journalists outside Malta’s court, Opposition leader Bernard Grech asked, rhetorically, whether police would wait for a magisterial inquiry to close to bring a school shooter to justice.

The Nationalist Party leader said that police would not apply this procedure in such an extreme case, but then asked why it is being applied in the case of the Vitals-Steward Hospitals deal.

Moments before, Grech, along with former leader Adrian Delia, filed a judicial protest after police commissioner Angelo Gafà did not follow through on the three day ultimatum set by the Opposition leader.

Grech insisted that when it comes to people in power, immediate police action is not taken, despite millions in euros being stolen from the people.

Dubai went all out for Halloween 2023 with a mesmerizing drone show near the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. On October 31, the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates treated residents and visitors to a spectacular display in celebration of the spooky season.

Halloween, traditionally observed on October 31, precedes All Saints’ or All Hallows’ Day and is primarily celebrated in Europe and North America. This secular festival prompts people to don costumes inspired by their favorite film, TV, or comic book characters, and attend festive gatherings featuring spooky elements like ghosts, skeletons, witches, and vampires.

BCA drops the ultimate hammer; “No License, No Construction”

Nov 1 2023 Share

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has dropped the ultimate hammer, declaring a ‘No License, No Construction’ rule that promises to revolutionise the industry.

The BCA has received 3,500 applications from contractors in the fields of demolition, excavation, and construction.

As of today, only those who had the foresight to apply for a license before the deadline can continue their work.

This groundbreaking process was set in motion by a Legal Notice, which, for the first time, mandates that contractors in every phase of construction, be it demolition, excavation, or building, must have an official license.

Contractors who missed the October 31st deadline need not despair just yet; they have a lifeline until May 31, 2024, to submit their applications. However, it’s not all smooth sailing. The evaluation committee has the power to hold applicants in suspense for up to 60 days, provided all documents are in order.

By January 1, 2025, everyone in the game needs to have a license or they won’t be able to operate.

BCA claims that this rigorous licensing system is designed to separate the wheat from the chaff, ensuring only the most serious and responsible contractors remain in business.
