PN Candidate Calls For Gozo Ferry Terminal Upgrade

PN Candidate Calls For Gozo Ferry Terminal Upgrade
May 23 2025 Share

Taking to social media, new Partit Nazzjonalista candidate Beppe Galea has called for the upgrade and extension of the Gozo Ferry Terminal.

‘The time has come to extend the terminal into a larger and more modern one that also includes access for Fast Ferry passengers from Gozo’, said Galea.

Apart from the upgrade addressing intense summer heat, the toll from the elements, traffic management & delays, the upgrade would also be capable of withstanding the current load.

‘The fast ferry terminal in Gozo consists of a room and four tents, and this is certainly not an adequate level for the number of people using it. At the same time, the terminal in Mġarr has become far too small for the current level of activity.’

Recalling how a Nationalist Government extended the same port, built 3 vessels that, after 20 years, are still serving the people, Galea promised how a new Nationalist government would be committed to ‘giving Gozo and the Gozitans the recognition and respect they deserve.’

What do you think?

New Children’s Book Promotes Sustainable Transport Among Maltese Students

May 22 2025 Share

During a visit to Year 6 students at St. Thomas More College and St. Joachim Primary in Marsaskala, Transport Minister Chris Bonett and Education Minister Clifton Grima launched a new children’s book titled L-Avventuri Urbanistiċi ta’ Ġanni u Marija: Ġabra ta’ Stejjer dwar il-Mobilità Sostenibbli.

Written by Dr Thérèse Bajada, the book targets children aged 9 to 11 and features three short stories about different forms of sustainable transport, including buses, cycling, and walking.

These stories aim to encourage children to think creatively about the future of mobility in Malta while reflecting on real-life situations they can relate to.

Minister Bonett emphasised that cultural change begins with education. “This book is a concrete step toward shifting our transport mindset by helping children understand that transport is key to health, the environment, and our quality of life,” he said.

Minister Grima added that education is central to shaping a society that values sustainability. “This book empowers children to become active citizens aware of how their choices affect the community and environment.”

The ministers also engaged with the students in discussions, underlining the importance of instilling sustainable values and transport alternatives from a young age.
