PN call on government to continue hybrid car subsidies

The Nationalist Party is calling on the government to continue subsidies for the purchase of plug-in-hybrid vehicles after this year’s fund was quickly taken up.

The call came from PN transport spokesperson Adrian Delia and climate change spokesperson Eve Borg Bonello one week after the government pledged to prioritise the climate change battle. 

The subsidies are designed to enable people buy new cars that are either electric or plug-in hybrids. The grant for plug-in hybrids will end in May. 

The two MPs said that this is either a mistake or a lack of communication between the ministries. ‘The PN appeals for these subsidies to continue being given, and increased further’ they said on Monday. 

‘Climate change is posing a serious threat, particularly for a country with a Mediterranean climate that is already hot… the government has to be proactive to reach its European goals of decarbonisation in the economy and infrastructure’ they said. 

Borg Bonello and Delia recalled the declaration by the government and the opposition of a climate emergency in 2019, with a resolution approved by parliament.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have officially tied the knot after just one year of dating. The couple exchanged vows on the steps of a courthouse in Santa Barbara, California. 

Kardashian was dressed in a classic white dress and veil as the Blink 182 drummer celebrated his big day in a black suit. The newlyweds did not opt for a big event but a small gathering of close friends and family. 

The couple left the venue in a black lowrider convertible, with a sign reading ‘Just Married’ attached to the vehicle as cans tied to the rear of the car clattered behind them in classic fashion. 

The ceremony was a step towards bigger plans, TMZ reported, saying that they had to get legally married ahead of their big Italian wedding set to happen very soon. 

This event was the second of three steps marking the couple’s move into married life. Earlier this year, the couple underwent a commitment ceremony at One Love Wedding Chapel, with a ceremony conducted by an Elvis Presley impersonator.

Woman dies after falling at Marsa construction site

Woman dies after falling at Marsa construction site

64-year-old Agostina Grech has been identified as the women who lost her life after falling at a Marsa construction site. 

The incident happened yesterday, Sunday 15th May 2022, in Azzopardi street at around 2:15pm. The woman was generous delivering some food to the people who were painting the premises when the accident happened. 

A medical team arrived on site to assist but the woman was pronounced dead on site. She had fallen from a one storey height at the construction area. 

Our deepest condolences to all her loved ones.

Horse dies after falling from height in Msida

Horse dies after falling from height in Msida

A horse has unfortunately died after it fell from a height in Msida at around 7:30 am this morning. 

The incident happened in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, and from preliminary investigations it seems as though the horse fell from a field and ended up in the field.

Police were called onto the scene to control the ensuing traffic as Animal Welfare officials also addressed the situations. Investigations are still ongoing.
