Man arrested for infecting 22 people with COVID-19 in Mallorca

Apr 25 2021 Share

A man from Mallorca has been arrested with suspicion of assault after infecting 22 people with COVID-19 by going to work and the gym despite showing symptoms.

Spanish police had been investigating an outbreak in the town of Manacor towards the end of January, with reports of an individual ‘becoming infected but hiding his illness’.

The man not only ignored advice to go home but deliberately lowered his mask to cough and saying “I’m going to infect you all with coronavirus”, eventually infecting a number of colleagues and their family members, including three one-year-old babies, and a number of regulars at his gym.

The Health Authorities have notified the public of a false vaccine notice which is doing the rounds in social media and advised everyone to ignore the note.

The false notice suggests that a number of health centres are welcoming individuals over 40 to get vaccinated without an appointment over the next 10 days, which has been confirmed to be false.
