On Friday night’s episode of TVM’s Insights, Prime Minister Robert Abela declared that he is open to discussion on further reforms, amongst them the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use.
The Prime Minister went on to reiterate the reduction of fines on possession for personal use and highlighted his belief in the legalisation of recreational use of cannabis.
Dr. Abela also discussed potential discussion and reforms on subjects such as prostitution, abort and euthanasia.

An 18-year-old woman from Siggiewi sustained grievous injuries after an altercation in Triq Santu Wistin in St. Julian’s on Sunday at 2.30am.
The altercation took place at an unnamed establishment between two 18-year-old women from Pembroke and Siggiewi respectively, where the Siggiewi woman was taken to a clinic soon after, with reports of a glass being used during the argument.
Investigations by district police are currently under way.

Mater Dei staff nurse Rachel Grech has received the second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine after being administered the first dose three weeks ago.
This makes the nurse the first Maltese citizen to receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with other front-liners and medical staff to follow soon after.
Health Minister Dr. Chris Fearne had announced that by Monday, 13,275 vaccines will have been administered in Malta.

An ice cream in China made headlines worldwide after testing positive in three COVID-19 sample tests.
This comes potentially due to people who may have been in contact with the ice cream batches produced by Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company as English virologist Dr. Stephen Griffin reports that there is no cause for panic, calling it a probable ‘one-off’.
The virologist went on to state that while unacceptable and an obvious cause for concern, it is the result of an issue with the production plant and the sub-zero temperatures and fat content of the ice cream may have been detrimental to the virus.
