If you’re a fan of video games, game development and esports, then PLAYCON at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) is the place to be from Thursday November 30th to December 3rd!

Feast your eyes on 7000 square metres of interactive and educational activities, esports competitions, cosplay showcases and video game development exhibitions with BIG prizes to be won all weekend. Renowned names in the world of gaming such as Ubisoft, Keywords Studios, Exient and ESL are also set to headline this year’s edition of Playcon.

With esports competitions in games like Tekken 7, Rocket League, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. and more as well as a free to play area with stands including VR experience, interactive games and concepts, this is not an event you want to miss.

For all you cosplayers out there, this is also a chance to express yourself, test your skills and rub shoulders with other creative human beings with the chance to win trophies and cash prizes in multiple categories as PLAYCON 2023 is announcing its first-ever PLAYCON Cosplay Competition!

First Ever Group To Graduate In Politics In Malta

The first group in Malta has just graduated in Malta with a Bachelor of Honours in Politics and Governance from the University of Malta.

The B.A. (Hons.) in Politics and Governance aims to politically educate citizens for active engagement in Maltese public life. It focuses on under-represented occupational and social groups, emphasising public policy, management, and leadership.

The course covers diverse topics such as political behaviour, Maltese constitutional development, European policy-making, political leadership, foreign policy, and world politics. Students engage in original research, culminating in a dissertation that contributes to existing literature. The curriculum has evolved to integrate local and international perspectives, fostering a comprehensive understanding of political dynamics.

Among the graduates were Vice Mayor of Bormla Noyah Spiteri Hammett, who thanked her late mother following her achievement. Sergio Carbonaro, a familiar voice on local airwaves, too graduated in the course, writing ‘never say never to acquiring B.A Honours’ as he posed with his certificate and toga.

Today Is A Stain On Malta’s Education Says Roberta Metsola

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola took to social media to address the strikes undertaken by educators in Malta, saying today is a stain on our country’s education due to what led to this moment.

‘The biggest victims of the government’s hard-headedness are our teachers. With them, students and parents suffer as well’.

‘Instead of finding a solution, the government closed door to educators. Instead of keeping its word, the government offended them. This is nothing but bullying by the Prime Minister with thousands of teachers who everyday greet thousands of students in Maltese and Gozitan schools.’

Metsola expressed her solidarity with the teachers and students and appealed for the government to stop stomping its legs and instead to sit down around a discussion table with good intentions to fulfil promises made, invest in education and offer a proper future for our teachers.

Government Being Cheap With Teachers And Our Youth, Says Bernard Grech

Speaking during a Nationalist Party address, Opposition leader Bernard Grech said that when the government and the Prime Minister is being cheap with not only the country’s teachers but also the students and the future of Malta.

Stating that every teacher, with all their different methods and skills, left a mark on him, Grech went on to say that when the government refuses to invest and give educators what they need, they are, by continuation, being cheap with students, the future of our country, our economy and the rest.

He then took a jab at the advertisement of the budget and the money spent to create them. He recounted an anecdote wherein a teacher told Grech how an advert for ‘Malta Ġusta’ popped up when he tried to show students a YouTube video.

The teacher reportedly told Grech how it would have been much better to give the money invested in creating the ad to the teachers themselves to truly create a ‘just Malta’.
