Pitch Black 2025: Start Up Competition For Seed & Pre-Seed Entries

Applications are now open for the second edition of Pitch Black, the start-up competition taking place as part of Start Up Festival Malta 2025.

This year, the contest features two categories: Seed and Pre-Seed, giving both emerging and early-growth start-ups a chance to compete.

The Semi-Final will be held on Wednesday 22 October. Finalists will then pitch on Friday 24 October, when the winners will be announced.

The competition is open to both Maltese and international participants. Application forms are available at startupfestivalmalta.com, and completed forms must be sent to [email protected].

Pitch Black offers more than just exposure. Winners will receive a prize package, with an estimated value to be announced shortly. The contest is supported by a number of sponsors, who will be confirmed soon.

Pitch Black is part of Malta’s push to support start-up innovation and connect founders with investors, mentors and international opportunities.

Last year’s edition drew strong interest and competitive pitches across various sectors.

Start-ups looking to gain visibility, funding and momentum are encouraged to apply. This is your opportunity to showcase your idea in front of key players in the start-up scene.

Ella Henderson Joins Isle of MTV Line-Up Alongside Damiano David & Alok

MTV has officially revealed Ella Henderson as the final headliner for Isle of MTV Malta 2025, rounding out a stellar lineup alongside ALOK and Damiano David. The chart-topping British singer will take the stage at Il-Fosos Square on Tuesday, 15th July, in what promises to be an unforgettable night of live music.

With over 3 billion global streams, 10 UK Top 10 singles and hits like ‘Ghost’, ’21 Reasons’, ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’, ‘REACT’ and MANY more, Henderson is one of the UK’s most prolific pop vocalists. She has also collaborated with major artists like fellow headliner ALOK, Rudimental, Kygo and many more. A four-time BRIT Award and Ivor Novello nominee, Ella’s dynamic presence will some of your favourite hits to Malta’s biggest summer festival.

Also confirmed for the night is Maltese Eurovision sensation Miriana Conte, who will SERVING all the way to Fosos, Floriana.

In the heart of Valletta, the National Library of Malta stands as a proud guardian of the island’s rich history.

The National Library was established as a public library during the final years of the Order of St John. The building was designed by the Polish-born architect Stefano Ittar and completed in 1796.

The library was officially opened on 4th June 1812 by Sir Hildebrand Oakes, the British Civil Commissioner at the time, marking a significant milestone in Malta’s cultural heritage.

Franco Debono Thinks Bernard Grech Should Reconsider

Taking to social media, lawyer, former MP and one of the PN supporters’ favourites to take on the mantle of leader Franco Debono, said that Bernard Grech should reconsider his position and stay on as leader.

He opened his statement by recalling his relationship to Grech when he (Franco) was 11 years old and Grech fourteen years old on the school minibus.

‘Let me reveal a little secret. Back then, he fancied himself a bit of a playboy’, he said cheekily.

‘As leader, he always respected me and I respected him in return. He achieved the best result for the party in the past fifteen years, in the 2024 MEP election, and that’s why in recent days I felt I should encourage him and invite him to reconsider his position. Out of respect, I asked him to think again’, wrote Debono.

‘I must say that since he offered his resignation, his stature has only grown.’

He went on thank him for all the work he did, saying that despite the results possibly being better, the effort was sincere.
