Photos sent to this newsroom show a large amount of rubbish left outside in Marsa’s streets and having gone unpicked by relevant authorities.

The person informing this newsroom, who wished to remain anonymous, said that they have been contacting the Marsa local council over this dumping.

‘Other residents are throwing all type of waste in front of our property instead of their own’, the person said.

‘There should be consequences as this is illegal in Malta as we should separate and dispose our waste.’

The person lamented that leaving rubbish like this leads to further health conditions and diseases, not to mention horrid smells.

‘Is this the reason we vote’, the person asked, urging local councils to do more.

IGM Condemn Prime Minister’s ‘Establishment’ Journalists Comments

IGM Condemn Prime Minister's 'Establishment' Journalists Comments
May 7 2024 Share

Taking to social media, the Institute of Maltese Journalists issued a statement noting with concern the Prime Minister’s tone in the press conference held yesterday.

The IGM noted how the Prime Minister “accused some journalists and their media houses of working for the so-called Establishment, clearly implying they are enemies of the State and of the people.”

“The IGM condemns such comments, which are unacceptable in a democratic society.”

“At a time when the country is on the brink of an election and when a serious case that can have political ramifications will be dealt with by the courts soon, the Prime Minister should not instigate hate towards journalists and the media.”

The IGM called on the Prime Minister to moderate his language.

“After all, journalists are just doing their duty when asking questions and holding the country’s authorities, whoever they are, accountable for their actions.”

“The IGM expresses its full support and solidarity with journalists at this moment and urges them to continue with their work without fear or favour.”
