A video sent to this newsroom shows a rather bizarre way of commuting on Maltese roads.

A person can be seen riding on the back of a wheelchair as they drive in the middle of Triq Dun Karm, Msida, also known as the Birkirkara bypass.

Despite unsure due to a lack of information, the person riding passenger seems to be standing on their own set of wheels – probably a segway linked in some way to the wheelchair.

What do you make of this?

Kersten Mercieca, a local professional arm wrestler and tattoo artist, has continued to compete in the international field of the sport despite the lack of support.

And he’s still holding his own, managing to rank 4th place in his category in a competition in Switzerland.

Managing to get through round after round without ‘getting pinned once’, he even managed to hold the current world champion Toms Rozitz.

‘Lost to fouls, what a beast. But at the end the respect that us athletes have for each other prevails’, wrote Kersten on social media, sharing a video of himself competing.

‘I know I’m on the right track. I will continue to push forward and to keep chasing my dream to be on East vs West Armwrestling.’

In a significant event, hundreds of artefacts from the RMS Titanic, which sank 111 years ago, will soon be put up for auction.

Among the notable items is a first-class dinner menu from April 11, 1912, believed to be the only one in existence. It is anticipated to fetch between £50,000 and £70,000. The menu, showing signs of water damage, lists dishes like oysters, tornados of beef, spring lamb, and mallard duck.

Another remarkable piece is a first-class White Star Line deck blanket, expected to sell for £70,000 to £100,000. This blanket is believed to have accompanied a Titanic survivor to New York on the rescue ship RMS Carpathia.

Additionally, a pocket watch recovered from the body of second-class passenger Sinai Kantor, who was rescued during the recovery operation, will also be auctioned, with an estimated value of £50,000 to £80,000.

A faded broadside poster advertising third-class tariffs for the Titanic’s ill-fated voyage is also on the auction list. White Star Line reportedly tried to destroy as many of these posters as possible after the ship’s sinking, making the surviving examples extremely rare. The auction is set to occur on November 11 at Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd in Devizes, Wiltshire.

Matthew Perry Foundation Set Up To Help Struggling Addicts

Matthew Perry Foundation Set Up To Help Struggling Addicts

A foundation has been established in memory of the late actor Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler in the TV show Friends.

Perry, who battled addiction throughout his adult life, passed away at the age of 54. The Matthew Perry Foundation aims to assist those struggling with addiction, reflecting Perry’s longstanding dedication to this cause.

The foundation’s mission is rooted in Perry’s own words and experiences, with the goal of positively impacting as many lives as possible. Perry’s desire was for his legacy to be associated with helping others rather than his acting career.

The foundation’s website features quotes from Perry emphasising the collective effort needed to combat addiction.

The National Philanthropic Trust is overseeing the management of the foundation. Perry’s funeral took place in Los Angeles, attended by his Friends co-stars. Perry had transformed his Malibu beach property into a men’s sober living facility called Perry House, receiving recognition from the White House for his efforts.

Even after selling the property, Perry remained committed to supporting those in recovery. Friends co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane attested to Perry’s deep sense of purpose in helping others struggling with addiction, which had become a central focus of his life.
