Pelin Kaya was identified as the woman who was killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a car driven by Jeremie Camilleri

Kaya was hit by the black BMW driven by Camilleri as she walked on a Testaferrata Street pavement at 1am. She unfortunately died at Mater Dei Hospital after being rushed there by an ambulance.

Times of Malta revealed that her family had been informed of her death and that relatives are expected to fly to Malta later on Wednesday.

Kaya worked as an interior designer at a local high-end furniture store, described as a ‘wonderful person.’ Kaya lived in Gżira, close to the crash site, and had been living in Malta for over a year.

Police told Times of Malta that there seems to be no reason to assume that Kaya and Camilleri knew each other. Eyewitnesses also claimed that the perpetrator threw stones at the victim and then assaulted other passers-by and police.

BBC issues apology after sex noises prank during FA Cup coverage

Gary Lineker, the Match of the Day BBC presenter, had to laugh off a prank played in the studio as pornography noises were played during the show’s live coverage.

Noises from a porn clip were heard as Linkerer presented a pre-match build-up before the Liverpool v Wolves fixture.

It was later revealed, following a studio hunt, that YouTube prankster Daniel Jarvis was behind the joke after a mobile phone taped to the back of the set was uncovered.

The BBC went on to apologise to any viewers who were offended, but Lineker himself said that it was a good prank and there was nothing to apologise for.

‘As far as sabotage goes it was quite amusing’ he said. The prank played out as Lineker presented the programme in a studio at Wolverhampton’s Molineux Stadium alongside pundits Paul Ince and Danny Murphy.

Lineker explained later on Tuesday that he initially thought a video had been sent to one of the pundit’s phones that they had inadvertently left switched on. However, given how loud it was, he also noticed that every time the producers cut away from the studio to show a video clip the noises stopped immediately.

It has just been reported that the world’s known oldest person, a French nun by the name of Lucile Randon, has passed away at the age of 118.

Ms Randon, who assumed the name of Sister Andre when she became a nun in 1944, died in her sleep at her nursing home in Toulon, France.

The centenarian, born in 1904, saw two world wars and became the oldest person to recover from the COVD-19 virus in 2021. She worked to care for other elderly people, despite herself being blind and reliant on a wheelchair.

In 1944, she had worked as a governor and a tutor when she was aged 40. When she contracted the virus, it was revealed that she wanted to keep to her routine of helping people.

In 2020, Randon told French radio she had no idea how she had lived so long. “I’ve no idea what the secret is. Only God can answer that question,” she said. “I’ve had plenty of unhappiness in life and during the 1914-1918 war when I was a child, I suffered like everyone else.”
