Pele issues statement after reports of him receiving ‘end of life care’

Brazilian football legend Pele has issued an update on his ill health after being admitted to hospital following complications in his chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer.

The footballing icon has urged fans to remain “calm” and insisted he is “strong” despite reports he has been moved to palliative care ward.

The three-time World Cup winner, 82, has been reassessing his options due to the cancer treatment not working. He was taken to hospital last week with symptoms of ‘heart failure’.

Albert Einstein Hospital also released a statement saying his condition was stable.

Pele’s daughter, Kely Nascimento, said that there is no emergency and promised to post photos for New Year.

News of Pele’s ill health has been met by a widespread feeling of good will in the footballing world. France striker Kylian Mbappe tweeted: “Pray for the King.”

England captain Harry Kane sent hi best wishes to Pele and his family whilst saying that Pele “is an inspiration in our game – an incredible footballer and an incredible person.”

Scientist claims that COVID was a man-made virus that leaked from a facility

Andrew Huff, a scientist who worked at a controversial research lab in Wuhan, China, has claimed that Coronavirus was a man-made virus that leaked from the facility.

According to multiple reports, he is blaming authorities for what is being referred to as the “biggest US intelligence failure since 9/11.”

Chinese government officials and lab personnel are denying this story.

Argentina beat Australia to reach quarter-final

Argentina beat Australia 2-1 on Lionel Messi’s 1,000th appearance in professional football and 100th game as Argentina captain.

Lionel Messi stepped up again and finally scored his first ever World Cup knockout goal. This was his 789th career goal!

Argentina now face the Netherlands in the WC quarter-final.

Missing worker found dead after 14 hour search

A delicate 14 hour search and rescue at the Corradino building collapse ended at 2am on Sunday.

In a social media post Minister Byron Camilleri announced that the missing worker was unfortunately found dead by rescuers of the Civil Protection Department.

One News identified the dead worker as 20 year old JeanPaul Sofia.

Earlier, five other workers were pulled out alive from the rubble but suffered serious injuries.

The men were working at the building site, in Paola’s Corradino Industrial Estate, when the multi-storey building partially collapsed at around 10am on Saturday.
