Paris to ban deliveries and take-away services

Paris will ban deliveries and take-away services for fresh food and alcohol between 10:00pm and 6:00 a.m. from Friday to stop Covid-19 infections. Earlier that day, Mayor Anne Hidalgo  said that new restrictions were taken to avoid people from gathering outside food outlets in the French capital. 

New measures will be applied on top of the national lockdown that has been implemented in France.

Man grievously injured after being hit by a horse in Siġġiewi

A 30-year-old man from Naxxar ended up in hospital following an accident  in Siġġiewi. The police were told about the incident at 10.30 a.m. when the man was transferred to Mater Dei Hospital. 

After police investigations it was confirmed that the man had been injured after he had been hit by a horse at a complex in Triq Ħal Farruġ. The man was certified to have sustained severe injuries. Police inquiries are still underway.

Pedestrian critically injured in a road accident in Żebbuġ

A 47-year-old sustained severe injuries when he was hit by a car in Żabbar.  The police said the accident happened at 7 a.m. in Triq is-Siġġiewi, Żabbar   

The pedestrian, from the same area, was hit by a Toyota IQ driven by a 37-year-old man from Siġġiewi. Investigations are still ongoing.

Malta is still waiting for the second batch of flu vaccine

The second batch of influenza vaccines has not yet arrived. Seasonal influenza vaccines had to arrive by 1 November as part of the government’s two-phase approach to immunize as many people as possible free of charge. 

However, although the first batch of 100,000 was shipped and distributed within a matter of days last month, the second batch of 100,000 had to be delivered to Malta by 1 November.
