This warning comes just two days after the Directorate issued a similar advisory for the Chalet and Qui-si-Sana areas, which are located only a few metres from Fond Għadir.

An investigation carried out by Environmental Health Officers, in collaboration with the Water Services Corporation’s Waste Water Unit, traced the source of the earlier contamination at the Chalet area to a faulty drainage system at a nearby private premises.

Environmental Health Officers are continuing their investigation to determine the source of the contamination affecting Fond Għadir. As of now, present, the duration of the pollution remains uncertain.

Temporary warning signs have been placed in the affected area. These will be removed once water quality is restored, and a further press release will be issued to inform the public that the site is once again safe for bathing.

For further information, members of the public may contact the Environmental Health Directorate on 2133 7333 during office hours (8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) or by email at [email protected].
