A whopping €30,000 was raised by the Gozitan Church, though Caritas, to donate it to the Pope’s Charity and provide warm clothes to the population of war torn Ukraine.

The Gozo Diocese said in a statement that the ‘Apostolic Alms-house is sending protective clothing for thermal insulation, suitable to keep the body temperature warm.

Caritas is also currently helping families who fled Ukraine and sought refuge in Gozo. The war, which was kicked off by Vladimir Putin’s Russia, still rages on and there does not seem to be any end in sight.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently said in an address when visiting the United States that his people will be celebrating Christmas in candle-light, not because it is romantic but due to the power shortages inflicted upon them due to the constant bombardment.
