Over €212,000 Raised For Maltese Hospital In Ghana

The hopeXchange team, also known as The Maltese Hospital in Ghana, hosted a TV fundraiser yesterday from 11am to 11pm on all local TV channels.

Led by founders Mario Cappello and his wife Anna, the team raised over €212,000 to support their ongoing efforts in assisting the people of Ghana, particularly mothers and children.

Notably, MaltaDaily’s @keanecutajar and @ame.borg visited the Maltese Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana, in 2022.

Keane, who hosted yesterday’s marathon alongside Megan May, Keith Demicoli, Fabian Demicoli, and Karl Bonaci, revisited in November 2023 with TVM’s Francesca Attard, singers Kevin Paul, Megan May, influencer Daniel Umanah, and others.

Unemployment With Youth Rises, as Gender Gap Steadies

In a recent survey by NSO the results showed us that in June 2024 , the unemployment rate was 3.1%, slightly lower than in May but up from a year ago. There were 9,865 unemployed people, with most being between 25 and 74 years old (7,508).The number of unemployed youths (ages 15 to 24) was 2,357.

The unemployment rate for men was 3.6%, same as May, while the rate for women was 2.4%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease from the previous month.

While the unemployment rate for people aged 25 to 74 decreased to 2.6%, that of youth increased to 8.4%. Overall, these data indicate little variations in unemployment rates between genders and between age groups.

1st & 2nd Places For Maltese Motorcyclist Abroad

Maltese 15 year old Travis Borg managed to bag the top 2 spots in two separate Pre Moto 3 races over the past weekend.

Borg first bagged 1st place on Saturday, followed by second place on Sunday.

‘It was a great battle out there’, he wrote. ‘I’ll keep training hard for the next race.’
