Several owners found that the vehicles they purchased from dealers ‘Tal-Qasab Autosales’ and ‘Rokku Autodealers’ had the mileage of their Japan imported vehicles tampered with.
TVM News certified that the odometer mileage did not match the proper kilometres of the car when purchased. With differences varying between 40 to a whopping 100,000 kilometres, all the vehicles in question were bought from the two companies mentioned.
TVM News revealed that several sources contacting the newsroom said that three weeks ago, Transport Malta received reports with allegations of tampering. There were around 300 confirmed cases of such tampering.
Referred to the police once confirmed, Transport Malta too launched internal investigations on the allegations of falsified certificates on the vehicles’ gauges.
Investigations by police are still ongoing, but the dealers themselves denied the allegations, directing TVM News to their lawyers. The two dealers are currently suspended from importing and selling imported vehicles.
