Over 30% of Maltese 12 to 15-year-olds fully vaccinated
Aug 4 2021 Share

MaltaToday was informed by the Health Ministry that 5,803 youth between the ages of 12 and 15 have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The ministry revealed that 16,200 invitations were sent out to this age group, with 10,892 having recited at least one dose. The invitations were rolled out at the end of June as the EMA approved the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for the same age group. No major concerns in terms of side effects were recorded.

Under-15-year-olds will be issued a vaccine certificate through a PIN code which can be used as an alternative to the ID document number which adults find on the back of their ID cards. The children’s parents or guardians will receive important details through SMS. As the vaccination rolls out, 762,832 COVID vaccine jabs were administered up until Tuesday. As of writing this article, 385,049 people are fully vaccinated, meaning that 84.8% of the adult population is fully immunised against the pandemic.

Canadian footballer Quinn wrote their name in the Olympics history books when Canada beat North American rivals USA in the football semi-final. This win meant that the Canadian team will be going back home with a medal around their neck and that midfielder Quinn will be the first open transgender and non-binary person ever to win an Olympic medal.

The OL Reign player, played in both knockout wins over Brazil and USA and will now be hoping that they will play in the final over Sweden. The highly contested match has already had many setbacks, as both teams asked the IOC to postpone Friday’s match because of concerns of excessive heat on the day. The match which now has importance for more than one reason, will be watched by millions seeing if Canada can win a historic football Olympic medal, the first since 1904 and if Quinn can become the first transgender and non-binary person to win gold.

Friends cast show off new merch to settle the ‘break’ dispute

Friends cast show off new merch to settle the ‘break’ dispute
Aug 4 2021 Share

Following the long-awaited Friends reunion earlier this year, the cast of the beloved sitcom rocked new merchandise on their Instagram handles which delve into the age old question; were Ross and Rachel on a break? This question has haunted the fanbase for a very longtime, with the reunion itself addressing it with different opinions by cast members themselves. The Cast Collection is a collaboration between the six friends and graphic T-shirt company Represent which hopes to raise money for charities.

Jennifer Aniston (Rachel) rocked a cap which sets the record straight (at least for her) – ‘[They] were SO not on a break!’. Other cast members disagreed however as Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe) posted her own image whilst wearing a tee which captions Ross’ iconic phrase: ‘We were on a break!’. The others decided to stay out of the feud, with Matt LeBlanc taking a sip from a mug from ‘The One Where No Ones Ready’ and David Schwimmer highlighting the couple’s eventual getting together with a Lobsters tee.
