Over 250 University academics support 'Xebbajtuna' protest

Around 250 University of Malta academics have released a statement expressing their support of a national protest concerning Malta’s environment. 

The protest, called ‘Xebbajtuna’, is being organised by Moviment Graffitti, Friends of the Earth Malta, Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar, Din l-Art Ħelwa, Nature Trust Malta – FEE, Għawdix, Birdlife Malta and Rambler’s Association Malta. 

‘Whilst many elements of our economic and planning models have been highly successful, a systematic evaluation is urgently needed to assess their weaknesses and the growing threats to quality of life, cultural and natural heritage in Malta’ the academics wrote. 

The protest will be held next Saturday 27th May at 1030am, starting at Triton Fountain in Valletta. Will you be attending?

World renowned chef and presenter Ainsley Harriott is currently in Malta on work to film around the island and, in the mean time, get a taste of the local cuisine.

The chef posted to social media, revealing that he visited the capital city and wrote how there is plenty more for him and his crew to see. 

The chef also visited Mrieħel restaurant Olive 3, popping by for lunch, who shared a few photos of the staff with the chef and thanking him for choosing the outlet. 

Ainsley is an English chef known for his BBC cooking game shows like ‘Can’t Cook’, ‘Won’t Cook’ and ‘Ready Steady Cook’. 

Becoming a resident chef on many programmes, he boasts a massive CV appearing on hundreds of programmes, publishing around 12 books as well as a love for comedy.

The Maltese Zoqdi Racing Team brought the first place trophy home on behalf of their country. 

A weekend racing event, ‘Door Slammers’, took place in UK’s famous Santa Pod raceway. The racing event included multiple classes such as VP Racing Fuels Pro Doorslammer, Pro Street, True Street, European Front Wheel Drive, 4 Cylinder, 6 Cylinder and Williams Bros Big Bracket.

Maltese Gary Camilleri, on behalf of Zoqdi Racing, made it all the way to Santa Pod with a Ford Escort Mk1 together with the Zoqdi Racing team to compete in the 6 Cylinder class, in which there were 14 participants in total all from different countries.

After a weekend of jam packed racing, Zoqdi Racing, went on to win the class they were competing in and wrote history for the Maltese island on such an international level. 

The leaders of Zoqdi Racing thanked the team for their hard work and dedication and went on to state that this was not an easy journey for the team to reach this level. The Malta Drag Racing Association also congratulated all the Zoqdi Team for their achievement. Numerous  Maltese drag racing enthusiasts also made the trip to Santa Pod in the UK to experience such a moment.

Sabrina posts for first time since leaving Love Island Malta

After having just left the Love Island Malta villa, Sabrina took to social media to post her first photos and stories since leaving, showing that she immediately resumed her routine.

Sabrina stated her reasons for leaving as having to do with abandoning her routine impacting her mental health negatively. 

Her openness about this earned her a lot of praise by the Maltese public, who continuously picked her and Kyle as their favourite couple.  

Posting on story, she revealed that she is ‘back home’ at Train Insane Malta, followed by another story thanking people for their lovely comments and support. 

Writing on her IG feed, she thanked Love Island Malta for the ‘lovely experience. I will always carry this in my heart.’ 

‘I felt I needed to follow what my heart really needed and mostly take care of my sanity. Truly happy to be back to my life and routine because this is who I am’ she said. ‘Definitely Was a great journey, and have no regrets . I found a new family in there.’
