Outburst of gas at Daniels shopping complex in Ħamrun

At around 8pm on Saturday 28th November, Daniels Shopping Complex in Hamrun had an outburst of gas from a refrigerator.

The Civil Protection and Police personnel were called and helped evacuate the building and even closed the street to cars.

There were no injuries reported but there was one person who required some medical attention.

Valletta protest questions COVID-19, face masks and 5G telephony

Earlier today, a crowd of demonstrators gathered in Valletta to protest against the incoming COVID-19 vaccine, use of face-masks and 5G telephony.

Led by controversial lawyer Rudolph Ragonesi, the protest addressed issues such as the validity of the COVID-19 vaccine and the lack of information on the relationship between internet data routers’ transmission and the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier this year, Ragonesi had targeted Superintendent for Public Health Charmaine Gauci, stating that she was misinforming the people regarding the spread of COVID-19.

108 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 121 recoveries

Malta has registered 108 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,870 swab tests, while 121 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

32 cases were family members of previously known cases, 2 cases were contact of positive work colleagues and 3 cases were from social gatherings with other positive cases.

To date, Malta has registered 9,609 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 7,418 have recovered, 132 died and 2,059 are still active.

Mario Grech named first Gozitan cardinal in history

Former Gozo Bishop Mario Grech has been named cardinal by Pope Francis in a historic first for Gozo.

This follows Mario Grech’s stepping down from his Gozo Bishop position to take the job of Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops.

Grech is one of the 13 new cardinals to be named by Pope Francis this time round and the next Maltese cardinal to be named after Prosper Grech who passed away in December 2019.
