Jake Paul Beats Legend Mike Tyson In First Ever Netflix Live Sports Event

Nov 16 2024 Share

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, 27, defeated former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson, 58, via unanimous decision at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the largest NFL venue in the U.S.

The fight, already controversial, disappointed some fans as boos echoed during the final two rounds due to limited action.

Despite the negative perception of the fight from viewers all around the globe, the fight will always be remembered as the first ever Netflix live sports event available for all those subscribed to the platform.

Despite the lackluster climax, both fighters praised each other post-match. Paul called Tyson an “icon” and said it was an honor to share the ring with “the toughest, baddest man on the planet.”

Tyson commended Paul as a “good fighter” but dismissed the idea of proving anything, saying, “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself.”

Paul, who debuted professionally in 2020, has faced high-profile opponents, including a loss to Tommy Fury in 2023. Since then, he’s defeated MMA fighter Nate Diaz, boxer Andre August, former Golden Gloves champion Ryan Bourland, and MMA star Mike Perry.

In contrast, Tyson, considered one of the greatest heavyweights, retired in 2005 with 44 career knockouts. He briefly returned in 2020 for an exhibition draw against Roy Jones Jr.

Alan Deidun has raised concerns about the environmental impact of recent developments in Xlendi, following the heavy rainfall last week that caused significant run-off in the area. Alan Deidun emphasised the need for more sustainable development practices, particularly in coastal regions, to preserve natural water channels.

He warned that building over valley mouths that open into the sea disrupts the natural flow of water, increasing the risk of flooding and erosion. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of such construction, urging a reconsideration of planning policies to better protect the environment.
