During the past two weeks, Malta has experienced a record-breaking June heatwave and one of the longest spells of heat in Malta in over a decade.
The Meteorological Office has revealed that there have been five June heat waves over the past 10 years, the majority of which lasting for three days, as opposed to this year’s heatwave which lasted a strong 12 days.
A spokesperson for the office stated that this has been one of Malta’s most prolonged heatwaves, with June 25 being the hottest June day in almost 100 years at a blazing 40.2°C.
